One of the most awaited film festivals of the years is the Berlin International Film festival. It has been celebrated annually since 1951. It is every February. This is where the best and the brightest of the stars from across the globe gather to witness an extravaganza of films produced by genius minds. It is also one of the most formal and highly intellectual film festivals all over the world. There are certain groups of people who were carefully selected to be a part of the jury. There awards are divided into two; the golden bear and the silver bear. The golden bear is the highest award and is given to the best film of the year. Sometimes, if the body decided to give a Lifetime Achievement Award, it also offered the golden bear. On the other hand, the silver bear award is given to the winners of these categories; best director, best actress, best actor, best screenplay, best film music, jury grand prix, and extraordinary achievement by a single artist. The crystal bear award is also given to the categories where there are only 14 nominees and for children's category.

During the awards night, there are more than 280,000 tickets sold to the general public and the venue could host more than 480,000 people. This is where all stars and ordinary individuals gather to witness a spectacular event. More than that, they also get to play these movies for the public to see prior to the actual awards night. Based on records, year after year, there are more than 20,000 professionals from more than 120 countries gather to witness the event. Most of them are not just present on the actual night, but on the activities prior to the awards night as well.

The jury is a group of highly skilled individuals when it comes to filmmaking. They were carefully chosen and every year, one of them gets to be the head jury. They will then decide for the winners on the certain category by means of voting. The results will then be tallied and are under strict confidentiality until the actual awards night.

On the awards night, those who have entries for the films such as high profile celebrities, directors, movie producers, and other filmmakers are invited. Even those who do not have entries also take part in the event. Thus, it is always a grand red carpet night for all these stars.
