MTV Movie Awards
The MTV Movie Awards is an awards night hosted by MTV or formerly Music Television. It is the sister of their other awards which is the MTV Music Awards. It works just like any other award giving body where there are sets of nominees for different categories and the winners are revealed during the awards night. It started in 1992 and it has continued its existence up to this year. In fact, it has gotten more and more support as time goes by. The best thing here is that the awards night is quite unique and informal. In fact, it contains parodies of the different popular films released that year. Therefore, this is more appealing to teenagers.
There are different categories that these films have to fight for. Even individual actors and actresses also have to fight for a title. The nominees are selected by a panel of producers, directors, and people from MTV. The winners will then be decided by the public. They will vote online via the official website of MTV. After closing date, results will be tallied and announced on the awards night.
However, until 2007, MTV Movie Awards is not aired live. It is pre- taped and it does not really follow the sequence. Editing is just made to make it look in order. The telecast will then be made a few days later than the actual awards night. It is unlike the MTV Music Awards that is aired live. However, due to its massive support from the people, it has finally gotten a live telecast.
There are different highlights for every awards night. People look forward to the winners of some nasty and funny categories. They also look forward to the speeches done by the winners. Some of these speeches can really be funny and remarkable.
There are those who even feel awkward upon receiving the award. Not to mention the fact that the live audience can have very violent reactions. Most of all, the parodies are really to watch for. This is what makes the entire awards night different from some others. Of course, as usual, there are also performances by famous bands, singers, and dancers. The gowns and other outfits worn by the stars that graced the awards night are also being looked forward to.
In the past 3 years, the Twilight Saga has captured the Best Film of the year award. The best performance by an actress was also won by Krestin Stewart in the past 3 years, along with his male partner, Robert Pattinson in the past 2 years. The awards giving body also gave lifetime achievement awards to some deserving films and characters that have made impact to the people in the past years.
The MTV Movie Awards for 2012 will definitely be another event to look forward to. It will surely be a part of the history that this award giving body has made for almost 2 decades now. Rest assured, they still come up with more strategies to win the heart of the newer generations.
